What is Community Connectors? It’s a program for those who want to... • be uplifted about the journey to sustainability and beyond • inspire change in those around them • explore the rich connections that exist in our community
WHO SHOULD ATTEND? This is a professional development experience. Whether you are at school, in a workplace, a community group, a BREAZE committee member or a keen individual, this event will develop your skills and provide a great space to think, dream, plan and learn. Prepare to be excited and uplifted about the journey ahead!
DATES Saturday 26th March, 9.30am – 5.00pm & Sunday, 27th March, 9.30 - 1.00pm
VENUE Old Golden Point Primary School, corner English & Dunn Streets, Golden Point (off Grant Street)
COST All training and meals, snacks during the weekend are FREE!
FACILITATOR: Ian McBurney Ian McBurney describes himself as an ecological sustainability mentor for government, business and communities. He has a degree in environmental engineering and has spent ten years at the cutting edge of environmental education, working with over 150 Sustainability Street Villages, delivering sustainability culture change training in workplaces to over 6000 people, performing to 10,000 students in the famous Vox bandicoot environmental theatre program and lately mentoring businesses on the journey to sustainability. He is a lively, passionate and thought provoking. His message is of the urgency of our ecological challenges, yet also of hope, imagination and opportunities: the winds of change are blowing from many fronts – and every decision we make, every day is changing the course of history. TRAINING CONTENT • We will teach each other how we learn and why we change • We will develop our influencing and communication skills • We will find out why conversations are more important than solar panels and why every decision we make matters. • We will think deeply about our place on earth and our future • We will create, learn and practice as a group, alone and in pairs • The style will be participatory, fun and human scale!
