The new feed-in tariff arrangements mean new installations of solar power could be subsidising coal power at peak times in Victoria. And in NSW nearly 4000 jobs in the solar industry could be lost by the end of the year. On the wind front, Premier Baillieu's new laws mean a single resident can stop a wind farm within 2km of their house but a primary school in Anglesea can't stop a coal mine being extended to within 800m of the school. A couple of weeks ago Barry O'Farrell said if he had his way there would not be another wind turbine constructed in NSW. This move to block or slow down new wind and solar projects in NSW and Victoria is deeply concerning. And it means it's crucial right now that O'Farrell and Baillieu hear loud and clear that community expects them support renewable energy. So we've set up a quick and easy way to help you give 'em that message. Can you take two minutes to join us in telling Barry and Ted that cutting back on renewables is just not on? Click on this link and send an email that will go to both premiers, telling them you support renewables and you expect better of them: http://100percent.org.au/ Once once you're done, please pass it around your friends and we'll see if we can't make the message resoundingly clear for them. Last week's decision to stop the wind energy industry and cut the Victorian solar feed-in tariff mean that both solar and wind are under threat in NSW and Vic.
